Duty Of Candour Statement
Duty of Candour
At P4C Healthcare Ltd, we are committed to providing safe, high-quality, and compassionate care. As a registered care provider regulated by the Care Inspectorate, we follow the Duty of Candour under the Health (Tobacco, Nicotine etc. and Care) (Scotland) Act 2016.
What Duty of Candour Means
The Duty of Candour is a legal requirement for all health and social care organisations in Scotland. It ensures that when something goes wrong that has caused harm or could have caused harm, we are open and honest with the people affected.
Our Commitment
When an unintended or unexpected incident happens that results in harm, we will:
Inform the person affected and/or their family or representative as soon as possible.
Offer a sincere apology.
Carry out a thorough investigation to understand what went wrong and why.
Take appropriate action to prevent a similar incident from happening again.
Share a written account of what happened and the steps we have taken to learn and improve.
Publish an annual Duty of Candour report that outlines any incidents and the lessons learned.
Our Approach
At P4C Healthcare Ltd, we foster a culture of openness, honesty, and continuous learning. Our staff are trained to recognise, report, and respond to incidents promptly and sensitively. We believe that being transparent helps build trust, strengthens relationships, and ensures the people we support receive the safest care possible.
